Researched Soviet Russian USSR Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class with serial number in the 560000 range awarded to
Senior Technical Lieutenant Sergei Andreevich Nikolaev
, an officer in charge of a repair unit for anti-aircraft artillery.
Nikolaev was awarded for his cumulative excellent wartime service from the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War in June 1941 to 1945. A native of Leningrad, he appears to have served on the Leningrad Front during the Siege and was severely wounded in September 1941. He later served on the Northwestern, 1st Ukrainian, and 1st Belorussian Fronts, and was wounded again in May 1944. the citation praises his professional abilities, the quality of his repair work, his leadership, and the inspiring example he set for his subordinates.
